David Foreman Nicoson, 91 of Goshen, IN passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN. David was born on June 19, 1934 in Terre Haute, IN to Ernest C. and Virginia C. Nicoson. He married Shirley Ann Jester on December 27, 1959.
David graduated from Indiana State University in 1956 where he earned his BS in Elementary Education, he earned his master’s in education Ball State 1964. David honorably served his country in the United States of America Army. David was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, Phi Delta Kappa, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and the Elkhart County Retired Teachers Association. Elkhart Breakfast Exchange Club and a Charter member of the Concord Rotary Club. David retired from Elkhart Community School in 1997. David and his wife are members of Faith United Methodist Church in Goshen, IN. David loves to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.
David is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Shirley Ann Nicoson; their children, Matthew D. Nicoson of Elkhart, IN., Amy A. (Tim) Martone of Ft. Wayne, IN and Carol B. (Joe) Palazzolo of Huntertown, IN., grandchildren, Ben (Gina) Martone, Andrea (Vincent) Edwards, Isabelle Palazzolo, Gabby Palazzolo, Maria Palazzolo, Emma (Brett) Bever, Tate Nicoson, and Will Nicoson and great-grandchildren Riley, Ross, Virginia, Klementine and Olive; his brother Bryant E. Nicoson of Louisville, KY., and Marilyn S. Bondi of Geneva, Il. David was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Virginia Nicoson.
Visitation will be from 11am- 1pm Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Faith United Methodist Church, 22045 CR 18, Goshen, IN 46528 where funeral services will be at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Goshen, IN. Memorial donations in memory of David may be made to Faith United Church- Kingdom Kids.
