David Noreika Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

David Nathan Noreika, age 88, of Hartford, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025.
Dave was born in Forest County, Wisconsin, and later moved with his beloved wife, Jean, to Milwaukee and then Sussex. They made their home in Hubertus for more than 30 years before settling in Hartford in 2000.
He married the love of his life, Lyall Jean (Palmer) Noreika, in January 1960. Together they shared 62 beautiful years of marriage before Jean's passing in February 2022.
Dave is lovingly remembered by his children David Noreika, Kristin Burg (Brian Zemke), and Connie (Mike) Okla; his seven grandchildren Amie (Derek) Beauleau, Daniel (Vanessa) Noreika, Sara Lawson, Amanda (Sam) Sawicky, Ashley Burg (Eric Jones), Kayla (Brady) Phillips, and Joey Okla (Elise Schneider) and six great-grandchildren Daniel, Lucas, Lyla, and Addie Beauleau, Katie Noreika, and Cameron Sawicky, with another precious great-grandchild on the way.
Dave worked for American Motors/Chrysler for 32 years before retiring in 1988. He cherished his time at the family cabin in Hiles, Wisconsin, where he loved fishing on Pine Lake with Jean and deer hunting with his son, sons-in-law, grandson, nephews, and niece. His favorite part of hunting season was always the nightly gatherings-telling old stories, sharing a glass of brandy or Apple Pie Moonshine, and playing poker late into the night, often until he won the pot.
More than anything, Dave was proud of his family. He never missed a chance to cheer on his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids at their football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, and track events. His pride and joy in each of them was unmistakable and endless.
Dave will forever be remembered as "Bumble Bee Grandpa." He truly cherished being a grandpa, and his love, laughter, and warmth will continue to live on through the generations of family he so adored.
Dave's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to his special caregivers over the past year, Que and Staci, Lisa Schmitt, spiritual caregiver and to the incredible staff at Aurora Medical Center in Hartford-especially Dr. Patti Liethen, Nurse Kim, Caregivers Paige and Paige, the Hospice Care Staff, and the many others who provided such compassionate care and support.
Memorial Services for David will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St., Hartford, WI 53027). Family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00 p.m. until the start of service at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Richard Stoffel will be officiating.
