David Norval was born on January 2, 1946 in Savannah, Tennessee, the son of the late Gene and Pauline Norval.

On January 3, 1967, he was united in marriage to Joann Norval, who survives.

David honorably served his Country in the United States Army. In 2002, he retired as a supervisor of the custodian department at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee. David was a member of the Masonic Lodge (Arlington, Tennessee #641). He was a former Alderman and little league coach in Arlington, Tennessee. David was an 1964 graduate of Savannah Central High School. He truly loved the outdoors and spent many hours in the woods. He was a founding member of Hunting for a Cure organization. Nothing gave him more joy than calling a turkey in for a child battling cancer. His best quote was "God only gives us so many fly downs." He was a great husband, father, soldier, grandparent, and servant to so many less fortunate young people.

David Norval departed this life on April 15, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 78 years, 3 months, and 13 days.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joann Norval of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Tammy Norval Weihl (Andrew) of Arlington, Tennessee; son, Joe Norval (Terri) of Bruceton, Tennessee; grandchildren, Kayla Chandler, Jessica Butler, Delaina Merrell, and Matthew Weihl; and great grandchildren, Averie Chandler, Bowden Butler, Tucker Chandler, Hope Butler, and Caleb Butler.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Denny Wayne Norval.
