Dossie Plunk Obituary

Visit the Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah website to view the full obituary.
Dossie Lou (Newman) Plunk was born on February 2, 1934 in McNairy County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Doss C. and Omar Lane Newman.
Dossie Lou became a follower of Christ as a young girl under the preaching and teaching of Dr. R.G. Lee at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a faithful member of Savannah First Baptist Church for 66 years.
She married Bobby Wayne Plunk on November 10, 1951. They were married for 72 years when he died on September 5, 2023.
Mrs. Plunk retired from the Hardin County School System where she worked as a teacher's aide. She previously worked at local banks as a bank teller and for the City of Savannah as a clerk.
Dossie Lou was a paradigm of a Proverbs 31 woman. As a devoted wife and nurturing mother, she always made her house a home. For her, people always came before things. Cooking, reading, and socializing were just some of her pastimes. What brought her the most joy were her family and friends.
Dossie Lou Plunk departed this life on Sunday, December 7, 2025 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 91 years, 10 months, and 5 days.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Wayne Plunk (Donna) of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Tammi Lou Outlaw (David) of Bartlett, Tennessee; grandchildren, Nathan Hardin Plunk (Shelley) of Jackson, Tennessee, Wesley Joseph Plunk (Jessica) of Mountain Brook, Alabama, and Ethan Allen Outlaw (Caroline) of Bartlett, Tennessee; and great grandchildren, Nolan Plunk, Claire Plunk, Cannon Plunk, Sawyer Plunk, Winston Plunk, Graham Plunk, Sebastian Plunk, and Annie Outlaw.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dossie Lou was preceded in death by her infant son, Stacy Allen Plunk and infant sister, Bobbie Jean Newman.
