Jane Langston Plunk, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, departed this life on January 23, 2026, at the age of 83, at her home in Bruce, MS. She was born on July 19, 1942 in Columbia, MS. Jane was a graduate of Hub High School in Hub, Mississippi and was a member of Bruce First Baptist Church. Jane lived a life marked by dedication, hard work and a love for her family that brought her so much joy and happiness.
Jane spent many years serving her community as a pharmacy technician and was the co-owner of Plunk’s Pharmacy in Calhoun City, Mississippi along side her husband, Ted for 21 years. Jane was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and willingness to help others. Through her work, she touched the lives of countless customers who came to know her not only as a professional, but as a familiar and caring presence.
Jane greatly enjoyed horse racing, particularly spending time in Vinton, Louisiana and in Henderson, Kentucky where she received her trainer’s license in 1987. She found excitement and joy in the sport she loved and was the owner of several race horses.These moments were among her favorite pastimes and reflected her spirited personality.
Through the years, Jane was a member of the D. A. R. (Daughters of American Revolution) and was a representative of the National Federation of Republican Women. She also enjoyed playing Bridge with her Bridge Club friends.
Jane is survived by her devoted husband, Ted Wayne Plunk, Sr., their loving sons, Ted Wayne Plunk, Jr. (Amanda) of Big Creek, MS, Richard Stacy Plunk (Staci) of Oxford, MS, Robert Michael Plunk (Jennifer) of Bruce, MS and her brother, Michael Allan Langston (June), of Hardy, MS. Her legacy continues through her eight cherished grandchildren, Austin Plunk, Ansley Plunk Pillow (Walt), Holly Plunk Williams, Jessi Plunk Jackson (Chris), Kaitlin Plunk, Haleigh Huddleston Ritter (Andrew), Clay Huddleston (Ryan), Ken Downs (Ashley) and eight adored great-grandchildren, who have all been touched by her unwavering love and support.
Jane was preceded in death by her father, Sheldon Otis Langston, mother, Doris Annette Baughman Bain, step-father Garvin Bain, and brother, Robert Larue Langston.
Jane will be remembered for her devotion to her work, her love of family and friends, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. She leaves behind cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Jane’s life. Visitation will be held at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a service in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Bro. Bobby Cook officiating. Jane will be laid to rest at Bruce Cemetery following services.
Serving as pallbearers will be her sons, Wayne Plunk, Stacy Plunk, Michael Plunk, and nephews, Rob Langston, Jason Plunk, and Jerry Alan Plunk.
Honorary Pallbearers are her brother-in-law, Joe Carnaggio, cousins Tommy Calhoun, Randy McFerrin and friend, Perry Bailey.
