Donald Plunk Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kilpatrick Funeral Home - West Monroe on Feb. 23, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a loving husband, a devoted father and a dear friend to many, "Don" Donald E. Plunk, Jr. A celebration of life for Don, age 50, will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at The Pentecostals of the Twin Cities in West Monroe. Officiating will be Bishop Mark Foster and Pastor Randy LaGrone. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens in West Monroe under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until service at the church. Don was born on November 27, 1975, and passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 21, 2026. Don graduated from Living Way Academy in 1994 and attended ULM before going into the family business, Truck Parts & Equipment. Don was an entrepreneur with many interests, alongside his dad, the late Donnie Plunk. Together they accomplished many ventures from Truck Parts Sales, Heavy Equipment Sales, a Towing Company, and Commercial Real Estate. Don was a "Jack of all Trades" especially when it came to anything mechanical. Don was a licensed Auctioneer for the state of Louisiana and a licensed pilot. He had a passion for flying and operating drones, along with expertise in convincing the service department that the warranty covered a drone that was still underwater. Don had a passion for Motorsports that began with racing 3 wheelers at the young age of 8 years old. He also raced late models at Chatham motor speedway and had a hand in bringing mud racing back to the twin city area in the late 1990s. Don had a love for everything outdoors including hunting, fishing and water sports. He enjoyed the family property on the Ouachita River and was a long-time member of Ashbrook Island Hunting Club where he shared his love of hunting and fishing with his son Ethan and his daughters, Olivia and Sophia, along with other family and cherished friends. He also had many cherished memories of hunting and fishing at Davis Island "Kellogg Hunting Club". He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherry and Donnie Plunk; maternal grandmother, Virginia Ayers; paternal grandparents, Kathryn Plunk and Robert Plunk. Don is survived by his loving wife, Ashley Masters Plunk, of 27 years who not once left his side and cared for him so lovingly; son, Ethan Plunk; daughters, Olivia Plunk and Sophia Plunk; sisters, Sharon Plunk, Sarah Nelson and her husband, Chris; maternal grandfather, Beryl DeLancy; and future son-in-law, Andrew Birely; numerous family members and amazing friends. Honoring Don as active pallbearers will be Wayne Crowell, Alan Disotell, Rawls Dupree, Brandon Hays, Eric Masters, Ethan Plunk, Myron Plunk, and Beryl Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Birely, James Chambless, Aiden Joyner and Chris Nelson.

Memorials in Don's memory may be made to Pilots for Patients, 3127 Mercedes Dr., Monroe, LA 71201 or www.pilotsforpatients.org who dedicated their time and resources for Don's treatments giving him more time with his precious family.
