Mr. David Leroy "Pete" Nunn, age 96, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025. Pete was born to James Paul and Lucy Nunn in Winthrop, Arkansas on February 28, 1929.

Pete was the devoted husband of the late Helen Purtell Nunn, and together they raised three children: Mary Ethel McCollum, Elizabeth Cunningham, and Leroy Nunn.

Pete was a longtime and dedicated employee of Weyerhaeuser, where he proudly operated the company train. He often spoke of the work, the people he met, and the many years he spent there doing a job he truly enjoyed. Pete never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need. He would go out of his way to take care of anyone who needed a hand. He was never without a story that could bring a smile or a laugh, and he was never afraid to roll up his sleeves to help his neighbors. Pete truly enjoyed building wagons for family and friends. His strength in life came from his faith and his deep love of God and all of his creation.

If you spent even a few minutes talking with Pete, you quickly learned how deeply proud he was of his family. He adored his four grandchildren; Michael Cunningham, Becky Cunningham, Michelle Sawyer, and Patricia Maben – and he lit up when speaking of his of his five great-grandchildren; Michael Maben, Jake Sawyer, Blake Sawyer, Matthew Maben, and Madison Cunningham; and his great-great grandchildren, Knoxx Maben and Madden Maben.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lucy Nunn; his beloved wife, Helen, of 60 years; and several siblings who went before him.

He is survived by his children, Leroy and Sandra Nunn of De Queen, Arkansas; Mary Ethel and Darrell McCollum of Lockesburg, Arkansas; and Elizabeth and Mike Cunningham of Benton, Arkansas; his brothers, James Franklin "Blue" Nunn and Johnny Nunn, along with a large and loving extended family of nieces and nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services for Mr. Pete Nunn will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 20, 2025, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerrel Helms officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
