David Alan O'Shell, a beloved brother and friend, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at the age of 76, at UPMC Montefiore. He was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on May 26, 1949, the son of the late James and Lyda (Hofecker) O'Shell.
David was a proud Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War. After returning home, he made a life as a dedicated truck driver. David loved the outdoors and the serene quiet from his deer stand. He not only was an avid hunter and fisherman but also possessed a dedicated interest in collecting and running slot cars.
David leaves behind his loving sisters, Patricia Balencic and husband Greg, New Florence; and Constance Gomez and husband Jerry, New Braunfels, Texas. He also survived by his nephew, Dr. Jordan Balencic (Tessa), and nieces, Taryn Palacios (Rick) and Theadora Prochnow (Dakota), who will forever miss their dear uncle. Great-nieces and nephews Nora, Hadley, Jiraiya, Olivia, Luca, Isabella, Dominic and Maximilian also survive David.
At David's request, there will be no public visitation or service. Dave will be laid to rest beside his parents at Fort Palmer Cemetery.
Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit and memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
