David Albert O 'Brien, born on Veterans Day in 1959 at Ft. Yuma Indian Hospital, often joked that the holiday was created just for him. His early years were shaped by his family 's travels due to his fathers employment, culminating in his graduation from Fernley High School in Nevada, where he excelled in track and field.
In October 1978, David answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy, where he served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk until his honorable discharge in October 1982. His life of service continued through roles as a firefighter for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and later in maintenance at Paradise Casino, where he worked for 22 years before retiring.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Valerie Jose O'Brien; his parents, Charles and Eunice O'Brien; his paternal grandparents, Albert and Emorie O'Brien, and his maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Veronica DePuy.
He is survived by his son, Patrick, and granddaughter, Keionna; his brother, Timothy O'Brien; his sisters, Susan Antone, Sharon Mattias, Deborah O'Brien, and Valerie Jackson; his aunts, Constance Perez, Mary O'Brien, and Carlotta Sestiaga; and numerous relatives who cherished him.
Funeral services will be held at the Quechan Big House on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am.
Pallbearers will consist of his family and friends, a testament to the impact he had on those around him.
David's legacy of love, service, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
