David O'Clock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Funeral Chapel - Anacortes on Jan. 30, 2026.
David "John" O'Clock, age 77, of Anacortes, WA died January 27, 2026. John passed away peacefully at 10:30am without pain and surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Grand Rapids, MN to George D. O'Clock, Sr and Estelle June (Taylor) O'Clock on May 6, 1948. John is survived by his wife, Tanna Baker and his seven children, Terri (Aaron) Pieper, Jason (Cari) O'Clock, Romany (Kyle) Kerr, Jesse O'Clock, Stevie (Wayne) Mooney, Zoë (Charlie) Mohl and Hattie O'Clock. John is also survived by his siblings, Georgene (John) Bauer, Bill (Pirkko) O'Clock, Mark (Sandra) O'Clock, and Chris (Rick Chinberg) O'Clock; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

John is preceded in death by his parents, George D. O'Clock, Sr., Estelle June O'Clock, along with brothers, Michael "Robert" O'Clock and George "Daniel" O'Clock, Jr. and sister Anne Justine O'Clock.

In addition to John's deep love of family, he was an avid musician and outdoorsman. John enjoyed cooking which manifested in a storied career as a chef before he took work later in the construction field. He is a United States Army veteran, joining at the age of 19 as a commanding officer. John has the honor of being among the youngest officers at the time to be commissioned the rank of second lieutenant.

John was known and loved by many throughout his life for his clever turns of a phrase. As parting words, he would often say, "Remember wherever you're going, there you are."

In lieu of a formal service, his family suggests honoring John in a way he'd appreciate most: crack a cold one, crank your favorite tune, and take in the wonder of nature wherever you can find it.
