Billy Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Funeral Chapel - Anacortes on Jan. 28, 2026.
Billy George Jones, 78, of Burlington, Washington, passed away on January 23, 2026. He was born at home in Casa, Arkansas on May 23, 1947, to Millard and Mazie Jones, who preceded him in death. Billy spent his early years in Arkansas before moving with his parents to Renton, Washington in 1962, following his older brother, Millard Bernard, who had relocated the year before.

Billy graduated from Renton High School in 1965 and went on to complete two years of college. In 1967, he entered the United States Army and served a tour in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on August 23, 1973.

In 1970, Billy met the love of his life, Marijane, at the church he attended. They would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this coming March. Together they raised three children-Andrew, Amy, and Sarajane-and welcomed three in law children, Judy, Seth, and Jesse, into their family. Billy was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Peter, Kenya, Kaylee, Maverick, and Henry, each of whom brought him immense joy.

A gifted builder and machinist, Billy worked in the shipbuilding industry at Todd Shipyard and Lake Union Shipyard before becoming self employed. His craftsmanship took him far beyond the Northwest. On short term mission trips with close friends Larry and Priscilla Larsen, Billy built playground equipment-swings, slides, fireman poles, and more-for communities in Romania and Kenya. In Alaska, he constructed beautiful homes, and throughout the Northwest he became known as a master builder, collaborating closely with his longtime friends, contractor Skip Nason and architect John Nason.

Billy is survived by his devoted wife, Marijane; his children and grandchildren; his brother, Millard Bernard, and sister in law Patti; his cousins George and Jeanne Robertson, Virdie and Barb Robertson; and many extended family members in Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ruby and Emma.

Billy will be remembered for his steady hands, generous heart, and unwavering faith. His legacy lives on in the homes he built, the playgrounds he crafted for children around the world, and the family he loved so deeply.

Billy will be laid to rest in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington on February 11, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. with Military Honors.
