David Odom Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pate Funeral Home on Dec. 30, 2025.
David B. Odom, "Boot", 75, of Benton, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, after a lengthy battle with dementia.
He was born on July 8, 1950, to Raymond and Genevieve (Browning) Odom. On March 7, 1975, he married Carolyn Rich and she survives.

Forever the businessman, David worked his whole life building a business that he loved. He enjoyed the simple things in life, time with family, his hummingbirds, his dog Buddy , a fast car or two, a game of pool and maybe most of all, his brand of "gardening". David's generosity is one of the things that most people will hold with them in his passing, he would have given anyone the shirt off his back and a little pocket money to go with it.
David is survived by his loving spouse of 50 years, Carolyn Odom of Benton; his son, Shawn Craig and wife Brook, of Benton and his daughter, Shalyn Sargeant and husband Chris, of Vincennes, IN; grandsons, Joey Craig of Benton, Gabe Craig of Benton and Maddox Sargeant of Vincennes, IN; brother, Danny Odom of Benton, brother-in-law, Dennis Rich and wife, Angie of West Frankfort and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Genevieve Odom, sister, Marilyn (Odom) Keller, brother, Larry Odom, father-in-law, Byrd Rich, mother-in-law, Frieda Rich, family friend, Troy Doty and his beloved dogs, Emily and Kailea Mae.
