David Oetting Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Oct. 29, 2024.
It is with solemn reverence and deep reflection that we announce the passing of David Franklin Oetting of Springfield, MO. Born on January 12, 1935 in Platte City, MO, Dave peacefully departed from this world on October 26, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and generosity.
An esteemed veteran, Dave proudly served in the United States Army for 22 years before taking his well-deserved retirement. His dedication to his country was equaled only by his devotion to his family. On November 30, 1961, he was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Waltraud "Trudy" Gisela Herliska, with whom he shared countless adventures and travels.
Dave, a man of simple pleasures, found joy in giving back to his community by volunteering at the Doling Senior Center. He took great pride tending to his garden and landscaping, creating beauty with every seed planted and every flower bloomed. His cherished pets, Jack and Duke, brought him endless companionship and comfort.
Dave was greeted into heave by his parents Paul Oetting and Dorothy (Huffman) Staifer, two sisters, Betty Carol Starr and Poloy Stevenson, and his beloved jack-russell terrier, Jack.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved spouse of nearly 63 years Trudy, his daughters, Debbi Oetting, Anita Henderson (Mitch), Sherry Oetting and Samantha Allee (Tom), several grandchildren, other family members and friends
In honor of his life, a Funeral Service will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home North on November 4, 2024, at 10:00 am. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 3:00-5:00 pm. The burial ceremony will take place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery on November 4, 2024, following the service.
Dave's memory will forever be enshrined in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he may have departed this world, his kindness, his laughter, and his love will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. In his quiet strength, in his unwavering dedication, we find solace and inspiration. May his soul find eternal rest, and may his legacy endure through the ages.
