David Paul Ouwinga, 76, of Grant went to be with his heavenly father on October 15, 2022. He was born on June 29, 1946 to Paul and Marienne (Spoelma) Ouwinga in Orange City, Iowa. His father was a pastor and was called to Grant Christian Reformed Church in 1956 where Dave remained a member for the rest of his life. He attended Grant Christian School and graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School in 1964. On August 31, 1966 he married Ruth Geers in Grant, MI. and they were happily married for 56 years. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and loyal friend. Dave was a proud U.S. Marine and served as a reservist for six years during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed participating in Men's Ministry and being involved with National Wild Turkey Federation. He truly enjoyed all aspects of nature, especially hunting, fishing, and bird watching. Dave is survived by his wife Ruth; two sons: John (Nichole) Ouwinga of Grant, Joe (Bunnita) Ouwinga of Grant; daughter Shelly (Jeff) Moon of Fremont; five grandsons: Chance Ouwinga, Levi (Lexi) Ouwinga, Collin Ouwinga, Carter Moon, Cody Moon; two granddaughters: Sydney Moon and Ellie Ouwinga; two great grandsons: Leighton Ouwinga and Tyler Ouwinga; a great granddaughter Rylee Ouwinga; two step-granddaughters: Ashley (Jordan) Gerth and their children Carson, Addie, Brynlee, and Reggie, Taylor (Adam) Hawes and their children Grace, Mallory, and Benjamin; three brothers: Phil (Deb) Ouwinga, Steve (LeAann) Ouwinga, Tim (Deb) Ouwinga; two brother-in-laws: Bob (Linda) Geers, Paul Geers; one sister-in-law: Mary Cisler; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth's Parents: Chum (Esther) Geers; and his brother-in-law Gary Cisler. A Celebration of life will be held on November 12th from 4:00 - 7:00 at Joe and Bunnita's horse stables located at 12870 S. Poplar Ave. Grant, Mi. 49327. There will be a service officiated by David Brower beginning at 4:00 with fellowship and dinner to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Grant Christian School, 12931 Poplar Ave, Grant MI 49327 and/or the Grant Men's Ministry, 2895 Fox Drive, Grant MI 49327.
