David Paggeot Obituary

David Allen Paggeot, 67, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away on the afternoon of Monday, February 3rd at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital with family by his side. Dave was born on April 25th, 1957, in Muskegon, Michigan to Dee Paggeot and Carol Fox (Curtis, formerly Paggeot). From an early age, he loved fishing, swimming, and boating in the Grand River. He could often be found playing baseball, climbing trees, and creating lasting memories with his brothers and sisters. Dave proudly spent most of his career at Sealed Power in Muskegon, where he met many lifelong friends. He grew to love shopping at auctions and antique shops, and his passion for sports lives on through his extensive collection of sports memorabilia - most notably his Kentucky Derby glasses. He made many trips to Churchill Downs and was no stranger to the Silverdome, Tiger Stadium, and Las Vegas. He was a talented card player and especially enjoyed cribbage, hearts, blackjack, and poker. His musical interests were diverse and far-reaching. Favorites of Dave's were Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce, John Prine, Carole King, and Roberta Flack, but he also had a special appreciation for plays and musicals, particularly The Phantom of the Opera. Above all, Dave beamed with pride for his children and dedicated himself to supporting their many endeavors - especially his son during poker tournaments and his daughter during musical performances. It is an understatement to say that his kind heart, timeless stories, and goofy antics will be dearly missed by many. Dave will be eternally cherished by his children, Corey Paggeot and Karli (Alicia Fischer) Paggeot, along with his beloved life partner of 30 years, Janet Widman. His memory will be honored by his stepchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Cole, Lauren (Adam) Mixter, and five grandchildren. He is survived by his mother, Carol Fox; siblings: Kim Paggeot, Kelli Paggeot Meloche, Tracy (Stefanie) Paggeot, Michelle Dalton, Brett (Miranda) Paggeot, Bart (Stephanie) Paggeot, Dena (Christopher) Paggeot-Pimental, Kirk Vallier (Lisa), and Barbara (Steve) Hicks; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Dee Paggeot and his niece, Charleen Paggeot. At Dave's request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or Smile Train, two charities Dave routinely supported.
