David Parker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beggs Funeral Home - Perry Chapel on Oct. 17, 2024.
Our family is saddened by the passing of David Allan Parker on Friday, October 11, 2024 in Tallahassee, Florida. David was born in Perry, May 6, 1947 and lived here the last 40 years. He was a much-loved husband, father and grand-father to his two Grand-girls.
He served in the U. S. Army (1966-1969) during the Vietnam Era. Afterwards, he attended McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas where he met Cathy (Reed) and were married in 1971.
Dave loved football which resulted in his becoming a football coach at various times for Taylor County's Recreation Department for flag and tackle. His hobbies were working with his hands, and of late, clearing the land and mowing, which were enjoyable to him.
He worked various construction jobs before becoming the City of Perry Building Inspector. Prior to his retirement, he was Project Manager for Taylor County overseeing the construction of the Sports Complex.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis & Ruthie Mae Parker, sister Janice Connell and nephew Lewis Miller.
Dave is survived by; his wife Cathy; daughter, Shana Bratcher (Darren); son Shawn; and grand-daughters, Jade and Tenley.
He is also survived by his sister Susan Miller and two brothers, Sonny (Tanya) and Earl (Sandra) Parker; his Uncle Robert Parker and Aunt Imogene Brannen, many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
Poppa will be deeply missed and remembered always by those whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, October 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel of Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship.
