David W. Paynter, age 97 of Brodheadsville, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Lehighton, PA.
He was born in Siles, PA on September 20, 1928, son of the late David M. and Thelma (Wetzel) Paynter.
David was the loving husband of the late Beatrice (Custer) Paynter who preceded him in death on July 13, 2020.
David served our country with dedication and courage in the United States Army in the 2nd Indianhead Division, 23rd Regiment Company K, during the Korean War.
He had worked as a Vaccine Formulation Manager at Sanofi Pasteur in Swiftwater, PA. He managed four departments, Tetanus, Pertussis and Diphtheria and vaccine formulations departments.
He was awarded the outstanding Project Team Support which led to the licensing of the Tripedia Vaccine. He also coached the company's softball team in 1976 and won the industrial league.
When he retired, he was gifted a Winchester 273 rifle.
David was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He also served as a patrolman for the Pohoqualine Fish Association.
He was a devoted husband, a cherished son, brother and a deeply proud father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his children: Yvette Riebel and husband Tim of Saylorsburg, PA, and David C, Paynter of Easton, PA.
He was the loving grandfather to: Diane Brazdzionis and husband George, Michael Paynter, Juliette Paynter, Avianna Riebel, Brianna Riebel and his great grandchildren: Alivia, Charlotte, Norah and Luciana who all lovingly called him Pappy.
David is also survived by two brothers: Maurice Paynter and wife Betty of Brodheadsville, PA and Donald Paynter of Saylorsburg, PA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his loving wife Beatrice, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law: Ruthann Paynter.
A Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made In Loving Memory of David W. Paynter to: Paul's House Valor Foundation Clinic, P.O. box 315, Brodheadsville, PA 18322.
