David E. Perschka, 85, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Sharon, PA on July 14, 2025.
David was born on October 20, 1940, to the late Elmer R. and Faye E. (Aker) Perschka, in Farrell, PA. He was lovingly known by his family as "Butch."
He attended Mercer Schools and served in the military. Early in his career, he was a barber and later became a self-employed professional painter in St. Mary's, PA. When he returned to the Shenango Valley to be closer to his aging mother and his family, he utilized his skills as a painter in his employment with the Winner family, at The Tara for nearly 30 years, until his passing.
His love of painting extended beyond his employment, as he was always glad to help his family with any painting or staining projects, including refinishing furniture, staining a floor, painting a fixture, a room, or an entire house. He was very skilled and talented in his craft.
Strong is his faith, he attended Neshannock Alliance Church and proudly displayed a large cross on a chain around his neck. His favorite song was the hymn, "The Old Rugged Cross" which he carried a paper copy of the lyrics in his car.
Surviving is a son, Richard Fraley of OH, grandsons Ricky and Brandon Fraley, great grandsons Landon and Connor Fraley, a son, Bruce Steines of CA, special nieces, Karen (Rich) Yanak, and Patty (Joel Giglio) DePreta, a special nephew, Jeff (Patty) Kruck and all their children and grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving sibling in his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Perschka, his three brothers, Elmer Jr., James, and Michael H. Perschka, his sister Nancy Hightree, whom he loved deeply, and several nieces and nephews.
In honoring his wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
Uncle Butch, you did "cling to that old rugged cross", may you have lay down your trophies and exchanged it for a crown. May you Rest in Heaven. You will be greatly missed.
