David M. Pethtel

David Michael Pethtel, 72, of Cleveland, passed away on March 28, 2023. He left this Earth peacefully while holding the hands of his loving wife and daughter and with the support of his son-in-law.
Dave was born on October 26, 1950 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, though he spent most of his childhood in Madison, Ohio. A Vietnam War Army Veteran, civil engineer, general handyman, and avid banjo player in The Silver String Band, he was adored by everyone who met him and had numerous friends near and far. Music was his passion and he will live on forever in the music played and listened to by those whose lives he touched.
Dave was a caring husband, father, grandfather, son, big brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his wife Margaret Gudbranson, daughter Kaitlin (Patrick) Stock, granddaughter Lydia Stock, mother Lura Pethtel (née Paine), brothers Scott (Cyndy) and Kip (Kay) Pethtel, sister Lynne (Dave) High, along with multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his father Ray Pethtel.
No formal ceremony will be held as this is not what Dave would have wanted. Details on a Celebration of Life "jam session" to follow in the coming months.
