Houghton
David E. Pyykkonen, 84, a resident of Houghton, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Omega House in Houghton.
He was born on January 10, 1941, in Pelkie, MI, son of the late Abel and Lillian (Moilanen) Pyykkonen. David was raised in Pelkie and attended the Baraga Schools.
Mr. Pyykkonen was a veteran, having served with the United States Army as a Presidential Honor Guard.
Following the service, David worked as a Miner in White Pine and Ishpeming before beginning a Career as a Lumber Sawyer. He then worked for over 20 years as a Sawyer for Erickson Lumber.
David enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He was a former member of F.O.E. Aerie #382 of Hancock.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his three brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are: His wife: Agnes Pyykkonen; His children: Carri Larsen and David Scott Pyykkonen; His grandchildren: Jim (Brooke) Larsen Jr., Tara (Jon) Arens, and Bradley Pyykkonen, and six great-grandchildren; His brother: Bruce (Katie) Pyykkonen and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service for David will be held in the spring with burial in the Elo Cemetery.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at UP Health System Portage and Marquette, as well as Omega House, for the exceptional care and compassion shown during his stay.
