David Moses Rahal, 72, of Beckley passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, following a courageous battle with “MDS”. Born January 3, 1951, in Beckley, he was the son of the late George and Phyllis Rahal.
“Moosa” as he was affectionately referred to by his family, was a lifelong resident of Beckley and a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. David spent his entire career in the delivery industry, working at places such as Eppy’s Drug Store, Central Printing, and Fox’s Pizza Den. Upon retirement in 2013, David began his toughest and most rewarding job as he was his mother’s caregiver until her passing.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel “Sammy” Rahal.
David could often be found at one of the hotels or restaurants on Harper Rd. having a cup of coffee and socializing with the staff. David’s love for family was apparent and he loved nothing more than summer cookouts, holiday dinners or the weekly visits he shared with Jon.
David is survived by his nephew and best friend Jonathan (Tamara) of Beaver, WV, a niece, Samantha (Chris) Lane of Addison, AL, his aunt, Patty Moore of Jacksonville, FL, sister-in-law, Sarah Rahal of Beaver, WV, cousins Alice Khoury, Doug Elliott, Dennis Elliott, Teresa Arthur, Randy Moore, and Ellen Vinson.
David is also survived by his great-nephew Connor Lane, and great-nieces Carli Rahal, Chloe Lane and Gabi Lane. These 4 kids always made his day, and he loved nothing more than having them all together.
Funeral services will be 12p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley with Pastor Gary D. Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Rahal, T.J. Cisco, Teddy Goins II, Mitchell Corey II, Jay Arthur, and Matthew Arthur.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that any donation be made to the Raleigh County Humane Society in David’s honor.
The family would like to issue a special thank you to the staff at Summers Healthcare in Hilldale. The level of care and compassion he received over his stay there was excellent. David loved each of his nurses and would tell them daily.
