David Ramos Obituary

David Garcia Ramos, 71, passed away near his home in West Jordan, Utah on November 25, 2025.

David was born on March 19, 1954, in Kingsville, Texas to Pedro Herrera Ramos and Hortencia Garcia. At the age of 8, his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from West High School in 1972. As a young adult, David was the manager and drummer for his band, Topazz, which played both Tex Mex and American Classic rock.

On April 7, 1984, David married Connie Clayton. Together they would welcome four sons into their family.

David was a journeyman steam plant mechanic, and his career included working on jet turbines. He worked for the local power company for over four decades. Outside of work, he loved to build and create things with his hands-like a fun yet terrifying merry-go-round. David was a mechanical jack-of-all-trades. David could fix just about anything-from household plumbing to industrial equipment-though he would admit defeat to his iPhone.

He was a big movie lover who simply enjoyed the experience of any film, whether it was acclaimed classic cinema or a show that had gotten 3% on Rotten Tomatoes. He also had a great enthusiasm for food, especially . . . everything that wasn't a vegetable.

David's greatest passion was the mountains. He dedicated significant time to his cabin in northern Utah, which was his pride and joy. He built it with his own hands, and it served as his cherished escape and never-ending project.

David believed in the importance of family bonds. He was the unifying force among his nine siblings. He was always ready to lend a hand to family and friends-dropping everything to help with a middle-of-the-night airport pickup, fixing an HVAC system, or moving furniture.

A doting grandfather, David cherished his four grandchildren. He also had an incredible knack for making friends and was known for his warmth and outgoing nature.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Connie; his sons, Miguel (Barbara), Steven (Sara), Nicholas (Ashley), and Jared (Kayzia); and his four adored grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Roberto, Marcelino, Rolando, Eloy, and Carlos, and his sister Silvia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Herrera, and his mother, Hortencia Garcia, as well as his sisters Lola and Norma, and his brother José.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Ward House at 6695 S. 2200 W. West Jordan, UT 84084. There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the same location, as well as Wednesday prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m. For those unable to attend the funeral services in person, a Zoom broadcast has been made available: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86006575167
