David William Reid passed away peacefully in Brockton on February 26, 2026.

Born on December 19, 1932 in Newton, MA, he was the son of Charles L. and Alice (Canavan) Reid. David leaves behind his wife, Lorraine (Walsh) Reid.

David was raised in Wellesley and was a graduate of Wellesley High School class of 1950. After high school, he attended Boston University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. David went on to further his studies at Boston College where he obtained a Master's Degree in social work.

A veteran of the US Army he served as a pfc during the Korean War and was honorably discharged

After college, David had a long and successful career as a social worker at the VA

Hospital in Brockton. An avid long distance runner, David competed in marathons and completed the renowned Boston marathon as well as the Newport marathon.

In addition to running, he enjoyed long distance bicycling. David spent some of his free time at the Easton YMCA where he was a member. One particular hobby of David's was growing and caring for roses. He was also an avid singer.

In addition to his wife Lorraine, David leaves behind three children; Deirdre Hewitt and her husband James of North Carolina, Charles Reid and his wife Lisa of Taunton and Edward Reid and his wife Monika of California, his two sisters; Jane Robbins of Barnstable and Carol Turcotte of Rhode Island, his four grandchildren; Colleen, Mitchell, Cailin, Henry and Cooper; and one great grandchild, Cooper.

Funeral Services are private.
