David wasn´t just my cousin; he was like a big brother. The Reiner and the Savishinsky children were practically siblings, united by Grandma Mindel and our mothers, the sisters Kate and Fae. We were often together on weekends and, of course, on holidays. David was always the jokester, the smart mouth, but underneath as sweet-tempered as they come. I´m attaching three photos: two from Passover 1954 and one taken outside our Bronx apartment in 1955. I hesitated to include the last one, but the "naughty gesture" is so typical of the bad boy behavior that the big brothers (David and Steve) showed toward their little sisters (Roberta and me, Toby). It didn´t matter if we were good or bad. Mindel kvelled.
