David Revels Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James Funeral Home - Follansbee on Mar. 15, 2026.
David Ray Revels, 66 of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at WVU Medicine, Weirton Medical Center.

David was born on November 26, 1959 in Lumberton, NC. He was the son of the late Mary Lois (Revels) Byers and Ronald H. Byers.

David was a graduate of Brooke High School and went on to work for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation in the By-Products Department, where he dedicated many years of hard work.

Many will fondly remember David for his unwavering love of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Football Sundays were sacred, and he rarely missed a game, proudly cheering on his team and "coaching from the couch" with the same passion as if he were right on the sidelines. He also enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Pirates and could often be found watching true crime programs, something he found both fascinating and entertaining.

Above all else, David's greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. They were the light of his life and brought him endless pride, happiness, and love. The time he spent with them created memories he treasured deeply, and nothing made him smile more than being surrounded by them. His love for them was unconditional, and the bond he shared with them will forever remain in their hearts.

David is survived by his two sons, Joshua Revels and his wife, Kate Montgomery and Tyler Revels and his companion, Alyssa Bowmaster, both of Pittsburgh, PA, two grandchildren, Aurora June and Tristan James Montgomery – Revels, his longtime companion, Liz Stevens, two siblings, Sonya L. Byers and her companion, Jim R. Worrell Jr. and Ronald H. Byers II and his companion, Vera Eger and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 PM and again on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717.

Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery Haven of Rest, Colliers, WV.
