David Richard Rhoades, Sr., 64, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. David was born on June 27, 1961 in Havre de Grace, MD. He was the son of Francis and Grace Rhoades.
David was a former member of the Maryland Army National Guard serving from May of 1979 until May of 1994. David was employed at Flower’s Bakery of Oxford, PA, for 10 years as an oven operator. Prior to that, David worked for Millennium Inorganic Chemicals of Baltimore, MD, for 23 years as a chemical operator. He was always hardworking and took pride in his jobs.
David is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart of 42 years, Dorothy Rhoades; sons, David Rhoades, Jr. and Corey Rhoades; brothers, Charles Rhoades (Diana), Kenneth Rhoades (Lori), Danny Rhoades (Joan) and sister, Evelyn Hanson (James). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends.
David was an avid sports fan supporting both the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing with his dogs, Missy and Lucy, and going on trips with family and friends. He was a jokester who always had a big smile on his face and brought many laughs to the party!
David was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Rhoades, and sister, Mary K. Atwell.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 8, 2025, at 2 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 1 PM until 2 PM, at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Pastor Charles Finney of the Calvary Baptist Church of Rising Sun, MD will lead the services. Interment will be private.
