Salem - David Arthur Rice, 83, died at home Monday, August 18, 2025 one day before his 84th birthday following a lengthy illness.
Born August 19, 1941 in Columbus, he was the son of the late Arthur A. and Blanche (Anglemyer) Rice.
Dave, along with his family, owned and operated Homestead Pools and Spa since 1964 and retired as a captain with the Salem Fire Department after 26 years.
He was a member of AFL-CIO Local 283.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sally (Ludwig) Rice whom he married Nov. 1, 1963; and two sons: Jeffrey (Lori) Rice of Canal Winchester and Gary Rice of Salem. There are two grandsons Alan and Ryan Rice.
A brother, William Rice, is deceased.
The funeral officiated by Pastor Dirk Hall will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at the Weber Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be observed one hour prior to the service with Salem Fire Dept. performing last call.
