Rev. David Edward Robertson

February 8, 1930 - March 11, 2023

The Rev. David Edward Robertson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and pastor, passed away at home on March 11, 2023, at the age of 93, with his wife and children by his side.

Born on February 8, 1930, in Rocky Mount, Virginia, to Willie Edward and Ima Clara Bernard Robertson, he grew up in a loving family that instilled in him the values of faith, love and caring for others.

David married the love of his life, Maggie Mae Sink Robertson, and they were blessed with 68 years of marriage filled with love, joy, and devotion. Together, they raised a beautiful family that includes their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who all adored their dad.

the Rev. Robertson was a dedicated pastor for over 50 years, and his compassionate heart touched the lives of many. He officiated hundreds of weddings and funerals, serving and supporting his church families. David was a reliable comforter for the sick and dying, and his presence was a source of strength and hope for those in need.

David's family was always his top priority, he cared for them with unwavering love and devotion. He was a faithful provider and a reliable source of support for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

David is survived by his loving wife, Maggie Mae Sink Robertson; their sons and daughters-in-law, David Wesley (Lea Ann) Robertson and Jerry Lee (Debra) Robertson; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Mae(Guy) Bolling; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was the last of his siblings, preceded in death by his father, Willie; mother, Ima; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ernestine (Paul) Lynch, Tilly (Pete) Dent and Nancy (Cecil) Perdue; and brothers and sister-in-law, Wesley and Jesse (Nancy) Robertson.

David's family expresses their gratitude to all those who visited him during his final years, as well as all those who have offered condolences and comfort during this difficult time. They also extend a special thanks to Carilion Hospice and Lindsay Spence for their kindness and care for David as his disease progressed. David's legacy of love, faith, and compassion will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023, with Dr. Tim Nelson officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends beginning at 12p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
