David Robertson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mitchell Funeral Home, Inc. - Price on Dec. 20, 2025.
David O. Robertson

ORANGEVILLE- David O. Robertson, known to many as Barney, passed away on December 18, 2025. David was born on December 3, 1955 to Otto Ted Robertson and Florence Ruth Barney in Price, Utah. He was a lifelong resident of Emery County and was deeply tied to its Coal Country way of life.

David loved deeply and faithfully. For more than fifty years, Leta Mae was his partner, his constant, and the love of his life. They began their married life together on December 21, 1974. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Manti Temple on June 30, 1988. Together, they built a home filled with strength, laughter, and loyalty.

David was the kind of man who showed his love through his actions. He worked hard, stood his ground, and did everything he could to take care of the people he loved. Family was always at the center of his life and everything he did was for them.

He was a proud father of Willie, Denny, Robby, Sonny, Jodi, and Ricky and taught his children the value of hard work, honesty, and standing up for what you believe in. As a grandfather and great-grandfather he found joy in watching his family grow and cherished his grandchildren; always proud of each new generation.

He believed in showing up-whether it was for family, neighbors, or his community. David never shied away from hard work or difficult responsibilities. His years in the coal mines, on construction sites, and behind the wheel of a truck shaped his grit and determination.

Later, when he served as Mayor of Orangeville, he did so with the same sense of duty, wanting what was best for the town he loved and the people who called it home.

David wasn't perfect, but he was genuine. He spoke plainly, lived honestly, and believed in doing what was right-even when it wasn't easy. He valued fairness, accountability, and respect, and he wasn't afraid to stand up for those values.

He is survived by his loving wife, Leta Mae; his children, Willie (Shawna) Robertson, Denny (Tawny) Robertson, Robby (Shilo) Robertson, Sonny (needs a wife) Robertson, Jodi (Jordan) Gee, and Ricky (Tralysa) Robertson; many cherished grandchildren; siblings, Earlene Allen, Dennis O. Robertson, LouRee McGill, Robyn Rampton, Diane Ware, Karen Gordon, Paula Gordon, Gayle Robertson, Dean Whimpey, and Marsha World; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Otto Ted Robertson; his mother, Florence Ruth Barney Robertson Whimpey; and his step-father, Louis Whimpey.

Above all else, David loved his family. His legacy lives on in the strength of his children, the laughter of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the countless lives he touched along the way. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his hardworking hands, and his unwavering love.

We are grateful for the years we had with him and for the example he set. He will be deeply missed, but his influence will continue to guide us.

In lieu of flowers, friends are welcome to mail donations in David O. Robertson's memory to P.O. Box 236 Orangeville, Utah 84537.

Funeral Service, Saturday, December 27, 2025, 12:00 (noon), Orangeville 2nd Ward Chapel (45 West 100 South) in Orangeville.
