David "Gil" Gilbert Robinson - a loving husband, dedicated father, grandfather, and friend - peacefully passed away in his sleep on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in Johns Creek, GA. Gil was born on December 13, 1946, in Doraville, GA. He dutifully served his country in the Vietnam War and exhibited great bravery until his honorable discharge in March of 1966. Following his military service, Gil embarked on a successful career, working at several prominent corporations while simultaneously building a loving family with his wife, Gloria Robinson. Throughout his life, Gil found joy in sharing his hobbies with his beloved family. Hunting, playing the guitar, spending cherished moments together, and riding motorcycles were activities that held a special place in their hearts.
For nearly 40 years, Gil and Gloria called Dunwoody, GA, their home. Gil had a natural talent for being a devoted father and grandfather. He believed that the time spent engaging in his hobbies with his children and grandchildren was magical, creating lifelong memories and deepening their bond. Whether it was teaching his children to hunt, strumming his guitar while his family sang along, or embarking on exhilarating motorcycle rides together, Gil cherished these shared experiences. He reveled in the laughter, joy, and love that permeated these moments. To Gil, engaging in his hobbies with his family was an expression of his unwavering love and devotion.
Gil's devotion to God was evident in every aspect of his life. He embraced his spirituality with a deep reverence and commitment. His faith guided him through life's challenges and shaped his character, enabling him to lead a life filled with love, kindness, and compassion. Gil's unwavering belief in the power of prayer and the importance of living a virtuous life served as an inspiration to all who knew him. He found immense comfort and guidance in his relationship with God, and his faith was a source of strength for him and his family during difficult times.
Gil is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, and their children: Jimmy and his spouse, Jamie; Chris; Stephen and his spouse, Jessica; and Jeff and his spouse, Rebekah. He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild who had the privilege of meeting him moments before his passing. Gil was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Annie Robinson; his son, Sammy; his granddaughter, Taylor; and his brothers, Tilly and Jeff.
Gil's battle with cancer came as a surprise, as he was unaware of the fight he was facing. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Emory of Johns Creek Hospital for their exceptional care during his illness.
In honor of Gil's memory, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that supports and assists wounded veterans.
