David E Rockstad, 78 of New London, died peacefully in his sleep on January 27, 2025 at his home in New London. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London. A time of sharing of memories will start at 5:00 pm followed by military honors. In lieu of flowers, please give memorials to a program to support veterans.
David Earl Rockstad was born on October 29, 1946 in Minneapolis, the son of Conrad and Doris (Desmond) Rockstad. He graduated of Eden Prairie High School in 1965. On September 12, 1966 he entered the US Airforce where served his country in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged June 22, 1972. David was united in marriage to Pam Larson. This union was blessed with a daughter and a son.
Dave loved giving and his gifts were always meaningful and thoughtful. He found great happiness in sharing a treasure with his loved ones. Dave also adored his companion cat, Sammy. Sammy brought him so much joy and Dave loved him like a family member. He also provided shelter and food for stray cats in his neighborhood. Dave was inquisitive and enjoyed reading the daily paper and working a crossword puzzle. Music from various genres was a passion he took pleasure in listening and sharing. David sought out meaningful relationships with anyone he encountered such as his daily visit to the local Country Stop for his cup of coffee and a newspaper, or the bank, and his neighbors, especially Beth and Roger.
His family loves him dearly and he will be missed by: Nikki Matt, Peter, Emily, Cohen, Wilder, Livi, Sara, Matt, Nate, Ashley, Timmy, Jack, Josh, Jeannine; Pam and Rich; sister Karen; sister in-law, Sharon and many nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Doris (Desmond) Rockstad; sister, Patti Niemi; brother, Jim; brother-in-law, Mike Gust and son in-law, David Thein.
