David A. Roden
1956 - 2024
Springfield
David A. Roden, age 68, passed away peacefully with his wife and son by his side May 26, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1956 to the late Jack and Annette Roden. He was a graduate of Longmeadow High School and Holyoke Community College. He worked in the family store, Work N' Play, that his grandfather and father started, for many years. He loved talking to everyone, anyone and made many a friend from total strangers. David is survived by his wife of 45 years Peggy (March) Roden, son Brian, sisters Barbara and Lisa, nieces, nephews and extended March family. A funeral home service will be held Sunday June 2nd at 11:00 AM at the Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home at 44 Sumner Ave Springfield with burial at City of Homes Cemetery. My deepest condolences go out to you, Peggy and your son Brian and David´s sister Barbara Roden, over the loss of David.
This is so shocking to me. I have lost track with so many people since I moved to California back in 1979.

Being out of the loop, I hadn´t any idea he wasn´t doing well

David was part of our circle of close childhood friends that lived within a few blocks of him growing up.

Those were good times with heartwarming memories when we all didn´t have a care in the world.

Hopefully we can talk and share stories when things quiet down.

My deepest sympathy,

Rich Leader

To Peg and family and very close friends my condolences and thoughts and my prayers are with you at this time ...I was saddened this morning to see David´s picture in the obituary last time our paths crossed you told me he was sick. it was in super stop and shop at the corner Allen Cooley,,we talked for a while the photo that you have of him remind´s me the first time I met him. When he was at the X with his father working in the old store.I was in there with an old friend of mine who had to have his pants altered a certain way and Dave and his father were very diligent to make it happen...Then we went on our way..I remembered the store and went back and did business with you over the years. Then you moved over to the Heritage Park area. When you´re close the doors and I was saddened..... Then many years later one day I walked into New England orthopedics and there at the desk but Miss Peggy. Its funny how our paths crossed.... I always enjoyed David and I always enjoyed your company in the store we always had a good laugh once again my prayers and thoughts are with you... Jeffrey Browne

Peggy, Barb, and all the Roden/March family:

So very sorry to read about the loss of David. I first knew David in elementary school. Peg, we first met in 7th grade at Forest Park Jr. High.
Many years later when I saw you at "Sanders at the X" you told me that you were dating David!
I remember we had quite the giggle fest right there at the counter! You were so happy!

May your memories bring you peace.

You're in my thoughts at this most difficult time.
