Cremation Society of SC - Westville Funerals - GreenvilleDavid Wayne Rogers, 73, passed away at home on Feb. 26, 2026, after a lengthy period of declining health. A lifelong devotee of roots/Americana/bluegrass music, he has joined the heavenly choir.He was born Feb. 20, 1953, son of the late C. Wayne and Jewel Cothran Rogers. David, his parents and sisters were members of Eastlan Baptist Church, where he was baptized. He graduated from Greenville High School and from the University of South Carolina.He is survived by his sisters, Janet (Jan) Rogers Phillips of Mauldin and Kathryn Rogers Huggins and husband, Ken, of Simpsonville; one niece and four nephews; and two great-nieces and one great-nephew
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. on April 11, followed by a celebration of life at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Westville Funeral Home, 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville.
David maintained many warm friendships forged at USC and through the Upstate music scene. He was firm and sincere in his beliefs and in his caring for others. In that vein, the family encourages memorials to Greenville’s Triune Mercy Center or any organization that serves those who are struggling.Above all, you can honor David’s memory by loving your neighbor.
