Obituary published on Legacy.com by Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors & Crematory on Dec. 31, 2025.
David Charles Schlitt, age 67, passed away on December 18, 2025. He was born on February 16, 1958, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He is survived by his spouse Terri Wilson, sons; Jerimy Wilson (spouse Kimmie) Aria, Ariahna Alexia, Robert Schlitt and Richard Schlitt (spouse Amanda), daughter Randi Maish (spouse Vince Maish /son Junior/ daughters Destiny Maish, Dannie Jo Maish, Delilah Maish, and by his beloved grandchildren; Adelaya Schlitt, Kenzley Schlitt, Kruize Schlitt, Azaliah Schlitt. And one great grandchild Ty Maish.
He is survived by his brothers: William Schlitt (spouse Maida Libkin) of Charleston SC., James Schlitt of Cape Girardeau, MO, Joseph Schlitt (spouse Sheila) of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Thomas Schlitt (spouse Sherri) of Missoula MT; his sisters: Sheila (Schlitt) Wallace (spouse David Wallace) of Fayette, MO, Deborah (Schlitt) Foeste (spouse Steve Foeste) of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Angela Elizabeth Schlitt of Columbia, MO.
David lived a colorful and full life. After serving honorably in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in Okinawa and earned the distinction of expert marksman with the Lloyd Trophy Gold Medal. He carried with him the discipline, grit, and loyalty that defined his character.
He was an avid motorcycle rider (just ask the cops), hunter and fisherman and passed those skills-including his love for the outdoors-on to his children.
Following his discharge from the Marines, David moved from Cape Girardeau to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he made his home. There, he founded the AAA Haulin Hawg company – A+ rated with the BBB for 35 years, dedicating his work to helping clean up and serve the city he grew to love.
Because of Jesus' sacrifice, David is now in the arms of his Savior, at peace in paradise. He recently confessed with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and was baptized at Roswell Community Church September 2024 with his granddaughter Adelaya and her friend Gabby Gaudioso.
He will be remembered for his strength, his stories, his devotion to family, his faith and love for Jesus Christ, and the lasting mark he left on those who knew him.
