David Gordon Schuff, 96, of Clarksville, Tennessee passed away peacefully at his home on February 12, 2026. David was born November 2, 1929, in the Sailor's Rest Community in Montgomery County, Tennessee to Lerton Schuff and Bertha McClure Schuff. He grew up on the family farm surrounded by numerous animals and enjoyed sharing stories of the mischief he and his siblings got up to in their childhood. He served honorably in the Army from 1950-1952 in a field artillery unit, reaching the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed at Fort Carson and in Baumholder, Germany. Upon his return from service, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Business at Austin Peay State University in 1955.

He married Edna Mae Henley on August 7, 1955, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Clarksville. The couple moved to Memphis where David worked at Firestone Tire and then Lion Oil. In

1959, the Schuffs moved to Los Angeles, California where David began a career working for Walt Disney Corporation as an accountant, eventually becoming the Head of the Film Budget Department before retiring in 1991 and moving back to Clarksville. While in California, David began taking bookbinding lessons sparking a lifelong passion for book restoration. Over the ensuing years until his death, he derived great joy from bringing books back to usefulness. His favorite things to restore were family Bibles, and he never charged folks who brought books to him for restoration, saying it was a privilege to use his skills for good. David was an avid reader, especially enjoying history and biographies. He was widely travelled, but his favorite trip was the Holy Land. Locally, he was active in several organizations including APSU Alumni Association, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Sons of the American Revolution, where he was an active member of the color guard for many years.

David was preceded in death by his wife Edna Henley Schuff; his parents Lerton and Bertha Schuff; brothers Ottis Hugh Schuff (Annie), Thomas Dexter Schuff (Masie), George Cooper Shuff (Mary), and Henry Clifton Schuff (Karen); sister Virginia Isabella Schuff Stinson (HJ); and nephew Michael Schuff. David is survived by Dr. Margaret Deitrich, his companion of many years; his beloved dog, Ben; Nephews Phillip Schuff, Wayne Schuff, Larry Schuff, and David Schuff; nieces Donna Wallace, Laurie Canton, Michelle Schuff, and Debbie Schuff; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Visitation for David Schuff is scheduled for Friday evening, February 20,2026 from 4pm-7pm at Neal, Tarpley, Parchman Funeral Home. The funeral is planned for 11 am Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers and healthcare providers at Comfort Keepers and Suncrest Hospice for their loving care. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
