David Schutte Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bross & Spidle Funeral Home & Cremation Services & Monuments - Excelsior Sp on Mar. 26, 2026.
David James "DJ" Schutte passed away on March 24, 2026 in Liberty Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was a graduate of Excelsior Springs High School and attended Missouri State University in Springfield.

He was very close to his family, despite never marrying or having children of his own. He was an incredible uncle who often expressed that his greatest joy in life was playing with his brother Chase's three young sons, who adored him. He was deeply loved by his entire family, and his absence will be felt by each of us every day.

His generous spirit is reflected in the fact that he was an organ donor, giving two people the gift of life through his donated kidneys, as well as providing many others with life-changing benefits through his other organ donations.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Blaine "Chas" Schutte, and his stepmother, Carolyn Schutte of Excelsior.

He is survived by his father, James E. Schutte of Excelsior Springs; his mother, Suzanne D. Burke and stepfather, Joe Burns of Fort Worth; brother, E. Christopher Schutte and wife, Maria Johnson of Frisco, Texas; brother, Patrick "Chase" Schutte and wife, Cassandra of Excelsior Springs; as well as nephew and niece, August and Astraea Schutte of Frisco; and nephews, Blaine, Camden, and Davis of Excelsior Springs.

Arrangements are in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
