Jean Schutte, 88 of Castalia, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026 at her home. Jean was born August 7, 1937 to Horace and Thelma (Boehmler) Morse in West Union, Iowa. She graduated from Clermont High School.

On December 2, 1956, Jean was united in marriage with Leonard Schutte in Elgin, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. Jean was a member of the IBWG, NEIRA, WELCA, Nisse Rosemalers, West Post Project Club, and Card Clubs. She enjoyed basket weaving, rosemaling, gardening, wood carving and quilting. Jean volunteered as a Cub Scout Leader, Sunday School Leader and 4-H Leder.

Surviving Jean are her husband, Leonard Schutte of Castalia; three children, Gary (Lori) Schutte of Castalia, Iowa, Karen Lenth of Elgin, Iowa and Dan (Vicki) Schutte of Castalia, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Bryan (Jamie) Schutte, Aaron (Allison) Schutte, Alayna (Tom) Lockard, Breanna (Daniel) Reierson, Cody Lenth, Wade (Devian) Lenth, Brent (Summer) Schutte, Sara (Trevor) LaPage, Amber Schutte (Luis), Jenna (Wade) Dooley, Austin Schutte, Ben Meyer (Katie) and Missy (Mason) Riehle; twenty-eight great grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Pat Morse; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Kluth.

Preceding Jean in death were her parents, Horace and Thelma Morse; sister, Mary Morse and brother-in-law, John Kluth.

A Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, Iowa.

Funeral Service and Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, Iowa will be assisting the family with services.
