David Schwarz Obituary
David Nelson Schwarz, 70, husband of Patricia Margaret "Tricia" Schwarz, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at his home in Bloxom, VA. Born April 2, 1953, in Glen Cove, NY, he was a son of the late Richard Paul Schwarz and Ursula Margaret Lieder Schwarz.
David spent the first part of his life in Long Island, NY. Always a joker, he entertained his fellow students at Calhoun High School in Merrick, NY. He worked as a surveyor in New York, and later as an outboard mechanic in Virginia. He met the love of his life, Tricia, and the two became one on May 31, 1987. He loved to leave funny voicemails for his friends. If there was a car show in town, you best believe he was going to attend. A talented mechanic, he even built his own motors. He loved muscle cars, 60s British Invasion bands, speed boats, America, and his family.
David spent untold hours on the water. He became fed up with city life, wanted lower taxes, and decided a cool change was in order. He and Tricia packed up and headed to the Eastern Shore of Virginia in 1990, where he spent the rest of his days catching warm breezes and boating on the Chesapeake Bay. On the Eastern Shore, David built a solid reputation as a fair and dependable outboard technician. He could be seen on any given day with his dog Cookie by his side, listening to the Moody Blues and working on a Mercury. He started his Mercury outboard journey in his teenage years. He had a natural mechanical aptitude in both outboards and car motors. At one time he was a boat racer and a member of APBA. He was also very active on his favorite boating website "Scream & Fly" posting YouTube videos and giving advice about motors. He is missed by his buddies there. He also enjoyed long walks on the beach in the winter and summer with his wife and dogs. David attended St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Onley, VA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Susan Lehneis of Long Island, NY; brothers, Stephen Schwarz of Manorville, NY, and Eric Schwarz and his wife, Donna, of Babylon, NY; special nephew, Eric Schwarz, Jr.; extended family and countless friends; and his dog and loyal companion, "Cookie." Other than his parents, David was predeceased by his younger brother, Peter Schwarz.
A viewing and memorial mass will be held at the chapel of Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with Father Michael Imperial officiating.
