He graduated from Luling High School in 1967 and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served with honor for more than 25 years. He defended his country in Vietnam and numerous other places throughout the world, on land and sea. His dedication and hard work led to his promotion to Senior Chief Petty Officer and subsequent commissioning as a Warrant Officer. After years of owning and operating a family deli he was appointed as the Municipal Court Judge where he served selflessly for over a decade. His commitment to justice with grace and mercy left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. In 2008 he retired as Judge, got re-married to the love of his life, Judy, and moved to Dandridge, TN.
As a devout member of Deep Springs Baptist Church in Dandridge, David served joyfully as an elder, teacher, member of the finance committee, and as a board member, and participated in mission trips and Vacation Bible Schools. He enjoyed his collection of guns, patrolling Lake Douglas on his boat, and spending time with numerous family and friends, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a passionate believer in Jesus, and his walk with Christ was contagious. David’s kindness, sense of humor, and generosity made him a cherished friend and family member. A principled man of integrity, he was a pillar of strength and servitude throughout his community.
