David Seeliger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 2, 2026.
David Mathew Seeliger, age 75, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 23, 2026, at his home in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Dave was born December 2, 1950, in Fairbanks, Alaska to Glenn and Mildred Seeliger. His "claim to fame" was being born in the Territory of Alaska, and living here all of his life, with the exception of working 8 years in Hawaii.

Dave said growing up in Fairbanks with his brother Don was fun! He attended Main School, Denali Elementary, Lathrop High School (Class of 1969), and UAF. He worked as a Laborer before joining the Carpenter's Union in 1975. Dave was highly skilled in all areas of carpentry, especially in fine detail work such as cabinet making. He loved making things and working with his hands. Dave was 68 when he retired.

The most important thing Dave would want to share is that He loved the Lord with all his heart. He dealt with a weak heart for many years, and he gave God the glory for each day he was blessed with. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1981, and was baptized at Farewell Avenue Christian Church, where he was a devoted member for the rest of his life.

In his younger years, Dave enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing. He was an avid fisherman, and especially treasured summers spent with his dear friends at Fielding Lake. Dave was a dog lover. In his later years he always had a beagle as his loving companion. He loved traveling, sharing meals, playing games, watching movies, golf, holiday celebrations -especially Christmas, and spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors.

Dave is survived by his brother, Don Seeliger, nephew Derik Seeliger (Marti and their children Spencer & Grace), and nephew, Devin Seeliger. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mildred Seeliger. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Arrangements for a Memorial Service will be made known when they are finalized. Dave's favorite charities included: Shriner's Hospital for Children (national), St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Tunnels to Towers, Disabled American Veterans, and Wounded Warriors.
