Dave Seeliger Obituary

Dave Seeliger, 69, of Hiawatha, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, in the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy from a long battle of ALS. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Inurnment: Private at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Born in Madison, Wisconsin May 27, 1954, son of Patricia & Donald Seeliger. Graduating from Madison area technical college in 1974. He moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, starting his new job in 1974 at Rockwell Collins where he met his wife, Carolyn Anderson. They were married in Dubuque, Iowa, on the Spirit of Dubuque River Boat in October of 1980. He continued his education earning a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Mount Mercy University 1988, retiring from Rockwell Collins after 43 years. Dave was a kindhearted, sociable person who enjoyed life through his family and friends. He was an avid bicycler who participated in RAGBRAI (yearly bike ride across Iowa) with team Shag-a-Delic. One of his favorite travels was to enjoy being on the water while cruising the many different destinations throughout the Caribbean and U.S. He always looked forward to the yearly family gatherings in Minocqua, Wisconsin. He had a love of cars, and was also an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. Preceded in death were his parents, brothers: Bernie & Patrick. Survived by his wife, Carol, brothers: Ralph, Keith (Sue), Nieces: Traci (Kathy) Williams, Carrie Bonin, Jennie (Tim) Klecker, and great-nieces and -nephews, Cameron, Presley, Adrian, and Evelyn. Memorials may be sent to the ALS Association of The University of Iowa.
