David Shay Sangberg passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Ogden Regional Medical Center. Shay was born on May 27,1970, a son of Becky and Richard Anderson. Becky and Richard divorced and he was later adopted by David Sangberg.

He grew up in Brigham City, always obsessed with anything that had wheels, including bicycles, toy cars, big wheels, etc. When he was 4, he asked his dad if he could take apart a motorcycle, was told sure, since no one thought he could actually do such a thing, and surprised everyone with the large pile of parts he accumulated.

He also attempted to re-enact every Evel Knievel/Dukes of Hazard/Smokey and the Bandit jump on his BMX bike. As a teenager he moved on to anything he could drive. This love of engines and machines never ended as he spent his career working in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator.

He married Anna Gryzmala, they were later divorced. He then married Shawna Laughter, together they made their home in Brigham City.

He is survived by his wife, Shawna; his parents, David and Becky Sangberg of Brigham City; his sisters Serena (David) Adams of South Weber; and Malinda (Steve) Gibbons of Perry. He is also survived by his aunt, Julie Anderson McMurtrey, with whom he shared a special bond due to their closeness in age and having grown up together. He is also survived by his children, Shaylie, Staci, Zachary, Dustin, Gunnar, Memphis and Renoe; his grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Grizz and Meko.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jess and LaDean Henry, Von Anderson, and Bob and JoAnn Sangberg. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
