Robert Dale Tolle

October 13, 1932 ~ March 19, 2026

Robert Dale Tolle of North Ogden, Utah passed away on March 19, 2026, at 10:11 a.m., surrounded by his family. Born Thursday, October 13, 1932, in West Union, OH to John Reece and Edith May Francis Tolle, the eldest child. He was baptized in the West Union Christian Union Church in West Union, OH. He was confirmed in Reading, OH at Rosemogne (Hartzel) United Methodist Church. His most beloved Wife Mildred Elva Ahouse Tolle, (married May 12, 1962, in Tabernacle United Methodist Church), his father and mother, as well as Sister Cheryl Arlene Tolle Schardt (and her husband also Robert) proceeded him into heaven. He is survived by daughter (and caregiver) Melinda Edith, son Dr. Charles Robert (wife Laura Jean), and grandchildren Anne Elizabeth, Ruth Jean, and Jonathan Charles, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Robert graduated from Deer Park High School 1950 as Class President with National Honor Society Honors and taking first place in Scholarship for Geometry in the OH State Exam and eighth in Social Studies. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a ME and BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1955. Robert was gifted and had a tremendous work ethic all his life: carried newspapers in Elementary school, made industrial pH paper for John Tucker in High School, worked for E.W. Bushman in college, honorably served his country in the United States of America Army as a First Lieutenant at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Indiana. He joined the management program with General Electric Co. and preformed with distinction in roles of increasing responsibility including Plant Manager for 100's of employees, who he called each by name. Work took him to OH, MA, NY, NC, PA, and UT. The first action he took when moving was to find a church, to serve Our Lord and others. When he joined EnviroTech in 1977 as the Vice President of Manufacturing he moved the family to Sandy, Utah. Bob was active in exchange club. He was the VP of Operations at Eaton- Kenway in Bountiful, UT (served as Davis Co. United Way Chairman) before joining Thiokol Corporation in Corinne, UT in 1987. He won the NASA George M. Low award for Thiokol in 1991. Robert led teams for nuclear powered aircraft, the F-4 flight control system, Skylab, transformers, large motors, water filtration systems, automated storage systems, and the Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Motors. He worked with Weber State University in STEM with the local school districts. He was a member of the UT Governor's Science advisory council, and was recognized by teachers of Northern UT with The Golden Apple Award.

Robert valued God, family, and education. He was a First Class Boy Scout, United Methodist Men's President, Membership and Evangelism Chairman, Adult Sunday school teacher, Church Youth Leader, Stewardship Committee Chairman, He was the Boy Scout Troop Pack 410 liaison with Christ United Methodist Church in Salt Lake City. Wherever the need called him, Bob served. He was an active member of Ascension ELCA Lutheran Church in Ogden, UT and a member of their Men's group. This pleased Millie and Melinda very much. Bob loved God; His family and making memories with them; His Country, traveling to explore Earth's natural wonders, camping, hiking, history, science, horticulture, reading, gourmet cooking, theater, music, art, woodworking, photography, studying the weather, and the stars. He traveled from the furthest northwest place in North America in Alaska to the southeast place in Florida, Bermuda, and everywhere in between. He loved the mountains, Yellowstone, seeing the Milky Way, and being at the arctic circle with his family. All the United States of America were Bob's playground except Hawaii, and all of the Canadian providences except Newfoundland, and Nunavut. Robert loved bookstores, bridges and dams, museums, gardening, amusement parks, feeding the birds, "build and grow" projects with GrandDad and his Grandchildren, but especially camping, hiking, backpacking with family in our national parks.

Bob was most pleased to be promoted to GrandDad by Dr. Charles and Laura Tolle, who gave to Robert his most loved and adored Grandchildren: Anne, Ruth, and Jonathan. He taught kindness and responsibility until his journey here on earth was won.

Condolences, memories, and pictures may be shared with the family on his Remember Page: www.myers-mortuary.com
