Kenneth Lee Oakeson

September 11,1938 ~ February 23, 2026

Kenneth Lee Oakeson was born September 11,1938 in Murray, Utah, the oldest child of Don & Maxine Oakeson. He grew up in the small farming community of South Jordan, Utah with three sisters and two brothers. He lived in the same house from the time he was born until the time he left home and got married.

In his younger years, he liked to help his dad with the chores on the farm. He learned how to hoe beets, haul hay and work in the grain and sugar beet harvest. His grandparents lived up the street on a farm, and he liked to help in the hay and with the farmwork. He looked up to his grandfather who was a hard worker and set a good example both on the farm and doing his church work.

Ken met Gwen Burnett in high school at Jordan High where they both graduated in 1956. After dating for several years, they were married April 26, 1958, and later sealed in the Logan Temple. Soon after their marriage they moved to Brigham City and settled to raise their family of 5 children, Brian, Jodi, Lori, Boyce, and Devin. He loved family and life with them was fun. He could always be counted on to wrestle with the kids, take them on adventures, and bring home some "extra" fun stuff from the store.

When he became a grandpa, he was the best cheerleader for each of them, and each knew they had a wonderful friend in him. He genuinely enjoyed being with them and had adventures with them that will not be forgotten.

Ken was a great and loyal friend and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He mentored and helped many people and was especially gifted in lifting those who needed a friend. Friendship came easy for him and those he met knew they could count on him. He genuinely cared for and loved people and his carefree and pleasant demeanor made him easy and fun to be with. He will be remembered for his thoughtful and caring ways.

Above all, he loved his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and his testimony was important to him. He cared about spiritual things, and you knew he felt them deeply. He served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in many capacities and loved doing so. This brought him close connections with people and lasting friendship.

Those who welcomed him home on February 23, 2026, include his son Boyce Oakeson, his parents Don & Maxine Oakeson, his brothers Larry and Ned Oakeson, his sister Donna Moulton, and son-in-law Kelly Rindlisbacher.

Those who carry the family forward include his wife Gwen Oakeson, his children Brian & Tricia Oakeson, Jodi & Lindsay Jones, Lori Rindlisbacher, Devin & Christy Oakeson, sisters Merlene Crowton and Janice Crump, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Perry 5th Ward, 2415 S. 900 W. Perry, Utah 84302. A viewing will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 10:00 - 11:45 a.m. at the church before the funeral service. Interment will be at the Brigham City Cemetery following the funeral service.
