Cimarron - David W. Simmons, 70, passed away December 11, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 15, 1955 to Virgil and Betty (Burns) Simmons.
He was raised near Kalvesta and attended Theoni School. After his school years he spent time harvesting with his uncles. He worked for Peerless Plastics and eventually settled into a job for 30 years at Inland Container where he specialized in his area of work. His last 14 years he moved to Cimarron and finished out his life harvesting and trucking.
David married and had three children. His life revolved around working hard and supporting his family. His main goal in life was to be a good dad and provider. He also loved riding his motorcycle and hunting. Later in life he was blessed with 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
David is survived by his children Chris and Serena Simmons of Ingalls, Shawna and Tim Briggs of Ensign, Chandra and Justin Kissler of Garden City; his grandchildren, Enjoli, Cierra, Jamie, Cody, Savannah, Holly, Hannah, Trent, Austin, and RaeLynn; a great granddaughter, Emma; brothers, Ed Simmons, Roger Simmons and wife Tracey; and a niece and nephews, Jeremy, Brandi, Eric, and Nick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Simmons and Betty Hamilton; a sister, Kathy Davis, and a niece, Nikki Davis.
Funeral service will be held at Cimarron Christian Church on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Kyle Lawson presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Cimarron on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from noon to 8:00PM. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home.
