David Warner Slack age 82 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday Dec. 24, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 28, 1943 in Ogdensburg, NY the son of the late Harold D. Slack and Janet Louise (Sheets) Slack. David lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community. He devoted over four decades of service to General Motors, where he worked diligently for 42 years retiring in 2007. His commitment extended beyond the factory floor--he served for many years as a Union Representative, advocating for the rights and well-being of his fellow workers with integrity and resolve. His leadership and steadfastness earned him the respect of colleagues throughout his long career. A proud and active member of the Masonic fraternity, David served as a Past Master Mason. His involvement reflected his deep sense of tradition and community service. David took great pride in upholding the values of brotherhood and charity that define Masonic life. He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Mary E. Slack whom passed away on Dec. 17, 2020, his parents: Harold & Janet Slack, and a brother: Robert Slack. Their memories remained close to David's heart throughout his life.
David was a beloved Father to his daughters: Christine (Paul) Kritz, Janet Slack, Pamela Slack, and stepdaughter: Dianne (Joel) Harris. He found immense joy in watching his family grow and flourish. A grandfather to Jacob (Bree) Kritz, and Justin Kritz, and a great grandfather to Lucas and Lillian Kritz. His legacy lives on through them. In addition to his family, David held dear the Hogue family--- his neighbors whom he considered among the best. Hope & Zachary, Grant & Lee's friendship and love brought warmth and companionship that enriched his later years.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be no services. He will be laid to rest with his wife Mary at Newton Falls Cemetery. The family has requested that all donations please be made to Patriot Hospice 986 Tibbetts-Wick Rd. Girard, OH 44420. David W. Slack will be remembered as a devoted father, husband, colleague, neighbor, and friend. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
