David Victor Smith, 73, of Sherwood, Arkansas sadly passed away at his home on December 22, 2023. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 6, 1950 to the late Charles Word and Mary Elizabeth Jeter Smith. David was a beloved son, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Timothy Smith.
David was a retired volunteer fireman at Sherwood Fire Department and Sylvan Hills Fire Department, past patrolman for Gillett Police Department, Maumelle 'New Town' Police Department, and Pulaski County Sheriff's Office. He finished his working career in private corporate security. David was a sports enthusiast and athlete pursuing many sports over the years including football, baseball, basketball and softball for various youth and adult organizations. He was a kind man to all he met, compassionate and full of laughter and humor. He was an avid listener to all music genres and a supporter of historic preservation and environmental conservation efforts.
He is survived by a son David Bradley Smith (Theresa), grandson Bradley Michael Smith, sisters Charlene Pierce (Jim), Phyllis Chudy along with a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Services have been arranged by A Natural State Funeral Service with a private ceremony to be held among the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Meals on Wheels or your local fire department.
