David Ogden Smith passed away peacefully at his home on December 15, 2025.
David was born March 9, 1936, in Garland, Utah to James and Rebecca Smith. He grew up in Tremonton, Utah. He married Sharon Taylor on March 6, 1954 and together they had six children. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. In July, 1970 he married Diane Smith, On August 15, 1997, he married Brenda Wiles.
He served as a dispatcher for the National Guard from 1954 to 1957 and later served for several years in The Reserves. He began working at Hill Field as an Electrician, retiring after 30 years as an Electronic Engineer Supervisor. He held a second job for many years running projectors at the Uptown Drive-In Theater, then at the Cinedome Theater. After retirement, he taught himself computer technology and earned a second pension as IT Supervisor for the Davis County School District.
David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in many positions.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was always willing to sacrifice for his family and friends. He was the type of person that everyone knew they could count on, no matter the situation. David loved to take his family camping, hunting and fishing. He was one of those persons who could fix anything and was generous with his time and skills. He was often found helping friends and family with car repairs, electrical and plumbing repairs, etc. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marie, his brothers Veloid, Leslie, Thomas, Vernon, Boyd, Paul and Theral, and his son Brett.
He is survived by his brother Orlin, his sisters Emma Anthony, Julia Wardle, Elizabeth Udy, his children Carey (Debbie), Randy (Sena), Scott (Judy), Lisa Schow (Jeff), Julianne Baham (Pat), Tracy (Joni) and Robin Olson (Larry) as well as 30 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Crestwood LDS Chapel, 1039 E. Crestwood Rd., Kaysville, Utah. Family and friends may visit Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main St., Kaysville, Utah and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
Interment will be held at the Kaysville City Cemetery following the funeral service.
