David Edward Snyder
September 26, 1937 - December 20, 2025
David Edward Snyder, 88, loving husband of Patricia (Maupin) Snyder of Waynesboro, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at his residence.
Born September 26, 1937, in Staunton, son of the late Samuel David and Bessie (Morris) Snyder and preceded in death by a brother, Bill Snyder; two Sisters, Betty Loyd and Jo Ann McLain; stepson and his wife, Troy (TR) and Cheryl Hagwood.
He retired from DuPont in 2007 after 32 years of service and graduated from North River High School.
He was a Member of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, where he was a loyal servant and served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1966. During the Vietnam War, served as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division, the 82nd Airborne, and Legendary ABU Company, was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, and was honorably discharged as 1st Sergeant.
Dave was a Lifetime member of the American Legion Lodge post 340, Lifetime member of the Lee Lodge No. 209 AF&AM, Lifetime member of the Waynesboro Union Royal Arch No.2, a member of the Stevenson Commandry No.8, a Past Captain of the ACCA Shrine Hillbilly Unit, and a Lifetime member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge 1309.
Survivors include daughter; Susan (Snyder) Shifflett of Stuarts Draft; two sons and daughters-in-laws, David (Eddie) and Shelly Snyder of Verona and Joseph (Joe) and Kristy Snyder of Crimora; one stepdaughter, Jacquelyn (Jakki) Marshall of Waynesboro; six Grandchildren, Lizz Miller of Raleigh NC, Andrew Miller of Escondido California, Jessica Jones of Waynesboro, Matthew Snyder of Lyndhurst, Joseph (Jay) Snyder Jr. of Craigsville and David Snyder of Verona; eight step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Special neighbors, Ann Rosenberger, DeWayne and Angie Moore, Chris and Dawn Cox.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, December 29, at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, Waynesboro by Pastor Paul LaPrevotte. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A Private Family Burial will follow at Ridgeview Cemetery with a Masonic service by Lee 209.
Active Pallbearers will be Andrew Miller, David Snyder, Matthew Snyder, Jay Snyder, DeWayne Moore, and Chris Cox.
