David Sparks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home & Alpha Crematory on Nov. 22, 2025.
David Christian Sparks, age 73, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, with family at his side. He was born in Phelps, Wisconsin on August 21, 1952, the youngest child of Jerry and Ruth Sparks.
David grew up in Land O'Lakes and attended Land O' Lakes Elementary School and Northland Pines High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably from 1972 to 1975. While stationed in Colorado, David met his wife Cynthia Sparks (Swan). They were married on August 25, 1973 and moved to the Green Bay area. There, he entered training to become an electrician through an apprenticeship program with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). In 1985, he moved home to Land O' Lakes and went on to establish Sparks Electric, an electrical contracting business serving the Northwoods area for 40 years.
When he wasn't working, David enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, and maintaining and improving the family farm for the enjoyment of his children and grandchildren. Card games and board games were a favorite pastime; he was always drawn to a friendly game of cribbage, Oh Shoot, poker, monopoly, and many more.
David was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Ruth Sparks and sister, Sharon Franz. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Sparks, brother Jerry Sparks and sister Diane Sparks; his children Sonja Sparks, Craig (Lynn) Sparks, Karla (Adel Haj) Sparks, Karyn Sparks, and Halley (Michael) Otto; 11 grandchildren, Eli, Scarlett, Layla, Wyatt, Emry, Lochlan, Rowan, Kieran, Quyncey, Charlee, and Bodhi, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and godchildren Julia, Sarah, and Mark.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 24, 2025, at St. Albert Catholic Church, 4351 Co. Highway B, Land O' Lakes, with Father Serrao presiding. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at the church Monday. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Land O' Lakes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or in support of veterans.
